Here are a few key points in my thinking:
- the persistent focus on the inner world of the addicted person... to create deep and lasting change... avoiding the disaster of relapse etc.
- powerful interventions are needed: meditation, Art, Psychotherapy.
- the training and practice needed to achieve a high skill level is critical... Psychotherapy [not counseling!] needs formal university training... Meditation takes over a decade of serious practice {i.e. hours per day under a Senior instructor} to 'learn' to be an effective guide to others.
